Hot Cocoa Recipe & Marshfellow Q&A

We've declared January Hot Cocoa Month and are celebrating all month long here on our blog, in our shop and on our Instagram page (@bakerspartyshop). We are planning a BIG event at the end of the month and have partnered with some amazing businesses. Along with doing a style "hot cocoa" party display to help give you some inspiration we are having a BIG giveaway to go along with it. One lucky person will win a prize pack filled with oodles of great items, shop credits and a visa gift card. Autumn, of Marshfellows is one of the fabulous sponsors joining us. She graciously made an adorable Marshfellow figurine holding a hot cocoa mug to go with our event. Don't you want him?! He could be yours as he is one of the items included in our giveaway! We wanted to learn more about Autumn and how she got started so we hope you enjoy our Q & A and the recipe for Autumn's favorite style of hot cocoa! PS...The little Hot Cocoa Mug Marshfellow figurine sure did have fun posing for his photo shoot!

You have created a wonderful line of "Marshfellows". What was your inspiration for creating your brand?

Marshfellows: Thank you! I started creating Marshfellows just as a rainy-day hobby. I love crafting with polymer clay and I always found myself creating little desserts. Marshmallows are so puffy and sweet I thought how cute would they be with smiling faces and cute blush cheeks.

Where do you find your inspiration for your Marshfellows?

Marshfellows: I find inspiration in the seasons and holidays, pop culture, movies and music, and in the things I personally enjoy. Recently I saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway and absolutely loved it! So you can be sure I'm going to create something Hedwig inspired in the weeks to come.

What is your most favorite Marshfellow that you have created?

Marshfellows: Right now I'm loving the Marshfellow S'more. I think he's so cute covered in melted chocolate. But I will always have a special place in my heart for Toasty Cheeks, the original Marshfellow.

You've created a unique brand and fun line of products to offer, where do you see your business going in the next year?

Marshfellows: This year I'm hoping to focus on creating new and original Marshfellow designs, and maybe a collaboration or two with other kawaii artists!

We have to ask since it is hot cocoa month...how do you take your hot cocoa?

Marshfellows: I love Mexican Hot Chocolate with tons of mini marshmallows!

Thank you Autumn for participating in out "hot cocoa" month and for letting us interview you! Here is a recipe for a big ole mug of spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate with tons of tiny marshmallows.

Spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate:

3/4 cup of half and half

3/4 cup water

1/4 cup hot cocoa mix

1 teaspoon cinnamon (or to taste)

a pinch of ancho chili powder to your taste

tiny marshmallows

Directions: in a small saucepan heat on low all the ingredients except the tiny marshmallows. Once warmed well combined pour into a jumbo mug or 2 small mugs. Top with tiny marshmallows and add a cinnamon stick for garnish. This recipe makes one very large 18 oz mug with room to add marshmallows.

In honor of out Hot Cocoa month we are having a special on our wooden hot cocoa spoons. Any order from our shop containing a set will get a free set of our tiny soft marshmallows. Limit one free bag per customer and order. If you purchase multiple sets of spoons you will only get one free bag. Thank you also to Benzie who provided the darling felt polka dot and tinsel garlands that were featured in this shoot. They are also participating in our big event and have donated a store credit so you can pick out your own fun felt items.
