This week on Bakers Party Shop's blog we're sharing easy Shark Week party ideas! Whether you are having a shark party, nautical party or celebrating shark week at the end of July you're bound to learn some fun shark party tips from this post that you can recreate for your shark celebration. Are you ready to take a chomp...out of some cookies that is?!
We're in the full swing of summer celebrations! July is the perfect month to host a shark week party or nautical party! Party throwing and entertaining shouldn't be overly complicated (unless you want it to be) during the summer time. We all want to be enjoying life and enjoying so when it is time to throw a party it is nice to have a few fun and easy party ideas and tips in your pocket.
Shark Week Party Ideas #1: Easy Shark Cookies
We're a firm believer in having a variety of sweets for a party dessert table. It provides your guests with different options and lets you plan on what items can be made ahead of time, making it less stressful the day of your party. Cookies are a fabulous to showcase on your shark week party dessert table because you can easily decorate store bought up to a few days ahead of time! Check out our easy shark cookie decorating tutorial from last summer to learn how to decorate the cookies shown above.
Shark Week Party Ideas #2: Create a fun, unusual display.
Now it's more than just creating a fun display....what I mean is go beyond the traditional display ideas you might have, think outside of the box. When you are planning your party keep your eye out on serving pieces that you can incorporate into the display. I found a bamboo cutting board that had stripes painted on it and thought it fit the nautical theme of our shark week party so I used it as a cookie board....and bonus I have a new cutting board I can use later! Another thing I wanted to create in the display is the idea of sharks circling around something. I think that is a visual many think of when they think of sharks and I was able to create that by using a blue cardstock round, a decorated cookie and then placed shark gummy candies around the round to create the look.
Shark Week Party Ideas #3: Have your party favors be part of the display.
If you're having party favors at your shark party it is nice to incorporate them right into your dessert table display. It's a great way to add more detail to your table and also helps fill in bare spots. Use small candy boxes to pack up gumballs or shark gummy candies and tie some bakers twine around them for an easy party favor that you can make a week ahead of time.
Shark Week Party Ideas #4: Decorate a faux cake!
Not all parties need a cake...but they should! And you can have one that all you need to do is set it on a cake stand by checking our Confection Deception's line of faux cakes and sweets! Alyson has plain cakes that you can decorate yourself, like we did, or you can shop one of her fully decorated cakes that matches your party theme and colors. Why do we love faux cakes? Well simply put it makes things easy...now don't get me wrong I love a good real cake but sometimes you want to focus on other sweets for your guests to enjoy. Having a faux cake fills in the display and still creates that magical look and focal point that a real cake does without you having to stress over making. If you still want cake you can have the faux cake on display and serve slices of a store bought sheet cake.
If you are someone who likes to throw parties regularly it might be work investing in a couple of Confection Deceptions plain faux cakes. Then you have a few options to pick from that you can rotate with so it doesn't look like the same cake at all of your parties. For ours we used her plain white frosting cake and then decorated the top with blue sparkling sugar, sugar pearls in a few sizes, shark gummies and large rock candy chunks.
Shark Week Party Ideas #5: Use fun partyware & party decor!
Now it may seem like a given but selecting a few different kinds of party decor and partyware can really help take your display to the next level. Creating layers of interest in your display can be done with honeycomb balls, party fans and even the tableware you choose that goes with your theme. For our shark week party we wanted to keep the partyware we used simple and classic since we used the shark gummies throughout the display. A nautical feel was achieved by using Daydream Society's red thin striped small plates, napkins and cups. They were the perfect choice for our shark party table!
