One of our favorite chocolate Halloween party favors to make are chocolate covered Oreos. I mean who doesn't love them?! Head to a post we did a while back on How to Make Chocolate Covered Oreos to learn all of our tips and tricks. In this post we're sharing a couple ways you can decorate them from easy to intermediate.

An easy way to take your chocolate covered Oreos to the next level is to use a mold that has a design to it like our BOO, Jack-O-Lantern and pumpkin oreo cookie molds. The detailed recess in the mold lets you add a contrasting color of chocolate making the Boo or pumpkin stand out. This can easily be done by melting mini candy melts per package instructions then add the chocolate to a mini squeeze bottle or thick disposable piping bag to help you get the chocolate into just the design part of the mold. Do not fill past the design of Boo or pumpkin. Allow to set. Once set you can melt more chocolate of a different color and add a small amount to the cookie mold and follow the directions in our How to Make Chocolate Covered Oreos post.

If you want to take your Halloween chocolate covered Oreos to the next level you can add some metallic details using the Edible Art Metallic Paint Palette. This unique paint palette has 10 colors of edible paint that you activate with a few drops of water that you add right to the top of the paint color you want to use and stir the water into the color with a paint brush. It turns into paint just like that! We used a fine tip paint brush to accent the white Boo with silver and we used one of the golds, burnt bronze and gun metal grey on the other Boo chocolate covered Oreo. These took our chocolate Halloween party favors up another notch especially when you put them in a silver mini favor box. We have the boxes that fit a chocolate covered Oreo or small candies in white and kraft too.

TIPS FOR PAINTING ON CHOCOLATE: When trying a new technique we always recommend making extra so you have a few you can practice on. To get the metallic paint to adhere to your chocolate wipe the surface of the chocolate with a soft paper towel to remove the sheen. This helps the paint stick to the surface instead of beading up on it. A couple coats, with letting the paint dry between coats, produced the best results for this application. If the paint is beading up and not sticking in some spots the surface still has to much sheen to it.

If you don't want to paint your chocolates but still want to add a metallic sheen you can dust them with edible luster dust. We used shiny gold luster dust and shiny silver luster dust. This is a process that is very fast and easy to do. Use a large super soft bristle paint brush like our large mermaid brushes, add a little luster dust to the end of the brush and brush over the entire surface of the set chocolate covered Oreos or chocolate pumpkin lollipops. If you're making a lot of chocolate Halloween party favors it's nice to offer a variety of designs and styles. This lets you get creative and try a few chocolate decorating techniques. Once your chocolates are decorated there are a variety of ways you can package them up. Use mini glassine bags, with Halloween stickers or Halloween brads to close them or add detail to your favor boxes. View more spooky and fun products in our Halloween section.
