Candy Chocolate Doughnuts with Sprinkles

We have to say there's not much cuter than our candy chocolate doughnuts with sprinkles! These delightful and colorful little sweet chocolate treats are a perfect pick me up, party favor or to use as cupcake toppers! You can make these with just a few ingredients and in no time at all!

We've just added silicone candy molds to the shop. One of our new favorite molds is the mini doughnut mold. You can use it for chocolate or for baking and once you try it I am sure it will become a favorite of yours too! They make smaller doughnuts than what most would consider a mini doughnut. It worked fabulous for making our candy chocolate donuts. They popped out of the mold easily after the chocolate had set up. 

To make your candy chocolate donuts: Place the mini silicone doughnut mold on a flat baking sheet. Melt some chocolate in the color of your choice (we used Merckens dark chocolate). Once fully melted place the chocolate in a plastic disposable frosting bag. Snip off a small amount of the tip of the bag right before filling your mold.

To fill your mold: Gently squeeze your frosting bag of chocolate and fill the inside of the mold. You want the chocolate to just come up the top of the center round without covering it. If you cover it you will have something that looks more like a bundt cake, which is fun too, but not a doughnut. Let the chocolate set up until it is completely hardened before popping them out of the mold.

To decorate your candy chocolate doughnuts: Use Cookie Icing to top the chocolate doughnuts. It worked great to add a squiggle of glaze to the top of the doughnut and make them look like a "real" doughnut. The cookie icing is thick and provides the perfect surface to add your sprinkles. The candy chocolate doughnuts are so dainty and sweet! They would make a perfect party favor for a unicorn party!
