Oscar Worthy Easy Stacked Brownie Nutella Cakes

Oscar night or any night calls for some extra sweet treats like our easy to make stacked brownie nutella cakes. They look decadent but are simple to make and put together using a boxed brownie mix and a few other ingredients. No one needs to know just how easy these are so you can still impress your guests!

Brownies and nutella go together like peanut butter and jelly. I was having a major craving for chocolate and wanted to make something easy for Oscar night so I took a peek in the cupboard and found a brownie mix and a jar of nutella. Voila that is how these simple stacked brownie nutella cakes came to be.

I prepared the brownie mix per the directions on the box and baked it in a 9x13" rectangle baking pan. I lined the pan with aluminum foil so once they were baked and cooled I could easily lift them out of the pan so I could cut them into rounds. I used a 2" round cookie cutter to cut the brownies so I could make cute stacked single serving brownie nutella cakes. If you want a larger cake a 3" size would work well too.

When you think of Oscar night gold comes to mind so I made some golden non pareils to decorate the top of the cakes. They didn't come out quite as golden as I would have liked but they still worked and look nice sprinkled on the tops of the cakes. I had made some gem chocolates with one of our new candy molds the other day and they looked nice plated with the Oscar night stacked brownie nutella cakes. The layers of nutella glaze in between the brownie rounds makes them a rich and decadent dessert that is perfect for Oscar night! They are so good you might not want to share with your friends!

NEW PRODUCT ALERT for decorating your dessert or party table: check out our new 2" teeny honeycomb balls and 3" tiny honeycomb balls.

Makes six 3 tiered cakes or ten 2 tiered brownie cakes.

Directions for brownies: Mix up the brownies per the directions on the box and bake in a 9x13" baking pan. We used this size pan since we needed a thinner brownie so we could stack them and have layers of Nutella glaze in between. If your brownies were baked in a smaller pan they may be too thick to stack. We decided not to add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the brownies since we were going to use a cookie cutter to cut our the cake rounds and wanted a clean edge. If a clean edge doesn't matter to you go ahead and add some yummy toppings to the batter. Once the brownies are baked and cooled lift the brownies out of the pan by the aluminum foil lining and place on a cutting board. Cut out your cake rounds using a 2" round cookie cutter. You should get 20 rounds out of the 9x13" pan.

Directions for Nutella glaze: In a small bowl mix 1/2 cup of nutella with 2 tablespoons of heavy cream or half and half until all is combined. With a small spoon add a small amount of the glaze to the top of one of the brownie rounds. Repeat this step 2 more times until you have 3 layers of brownies. I used my finger to create a soft swirl in the glaze on the top brownie and then sprinkled on gold non pareils making them perfect for Oscar night!

The final step is to plate up your stacked brownie Nutella cakes on a plate or platter, add some chocolates and/or whipped cream and enjoy!

Cheers!
